L-Taurine (Taurine) plays a calming role as a neurotransmitter by counteracting the stimulatory effect of glutamate.

The formation of taurocholic acid, a key component of bile, requires L-Taurine. Bile allows for the absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as essential fatty acids.
